Mirror, mirror on the wall

Wednesday, September 22nd, 2010

We have fixed mirrors in this apartment so I had to get creative with this prompt. I used my phone as a “mirror” to reflect my Environmental Politics and Policy book. I tried my best to get rid of the glare but clearly there’s still some there.

“Here We Go”

Tuesday, September 21st, 2010

I remember when I was little.

(are you on the edge of your seat?)

Once my grandmother heard the appropriate number of seatbelt “clicks,” she’d put the car in drive and speed off down her steep Texas driveway proclaiming, almost just stating (as if exasperated by the struggle to get us all wrangled into the vehicle) “here we go.”

That’s what I think of when I see this picture.

That and the unconditional love I have for my 1998 Sunfire. He’s a sportscar, I’ll have you know.

I took this photo at a friends house. He had two interestingly placed mirrors so I decided to use both of them in one shot. And he insisted he be in the one mirror…

Mirror Image

Tuesday, September 21st, 2010

I am holding a picture frame with photos of me and best friend.  She goes to Ithaca College in New York, hence the shirt. I chose this picture because I thought it was cool how the flash happened to land right where my face would have been.  And the background is just an example of the typical chaos that is my room.

“Use a mirror as part of a composition in a photograph today. Show yourself in the image if you’d like!” – Daily Shoot Assignment

Daily Shoot: Mirror

So for today’s assignment I kinda felt like a creeper, though I have to admit that having the people in the mirror was sheer accident. I was more intent on getting a reflection without showing my camera. However I ended up really liking the result of this photo just because of the way the colors in the mirror stood out against the colors of Campus Walk, it almost creates an alternate reality.  So I hung on to this one :)

Daily Shoot: Mirror- Edited

Ok… I went to the Picnik site (thanks for the tip!) and made a slight edit to emphasize the mirror image more, which is what I really wanted to do. It didn’t make as much of a difference as I hoped, which might be because the colors were already so vibrant. But it was cool to play around anyway :)
