Day 3: Contents of my pocket. Since I left my wallet at home on a road trip to Chattanooga, the 3 cards that represent my life shacked it up cozy in my pocket all weekend.

What I carry in my Pocket(book)

Sunday, September 19th, 2010

I don’t really ever put anything in my pocket, but I tend to put tons of random things in my purse. One thing I always have with me is some sort of book, because for me even if I know I am not going to have time to read it or am not going to want to read it, I just like having it just in case I need a little escape from reality. This is the book I am currently reading, Hood, and I  just want to say I think it is really good! The other thing I have in this picture is my mirror, and I know as weird as it sounds it being a mirror is only 1/2 of the reason I carry it around, on the other side it has the  Doughnut Corporation of America’s version of the Optimist creed: “As you ramble on through life brother whatever be your goal always look upon the doughnut and not upon the hole!” Every time I read that it makes me smile, so I always switch it from purse to purse. :)

I don’t really carry any kind of good luck charm in my pockets since normally I choose not to wear shorts with pockets. But if my wallet is on me, my fishing license is normally there inside of it. I guess if spontaneous fishing arises on a regular day, I’m ready.

I don’t really carry a charm of any sorts, but I definitely have my anklet on all the time! I don’t quite remember when I made it… probably the beginning of the summer. Usually they don’t last through soccer season, but this one’s holding up pretty well!

Daily Shoot #3

Well, despite my usual silence I’ll talk a little about my rings.  I don’t take them off and my hands feel naked without them.  Three of them were gifts, but two of them I picked out from one of my relative’s jewelery box.  In the same box we found her wedding band, and the telegram to my grandfather(who was overseas at the time) informing him that his wife, Mary-Lou Sander, had died from Polio while eight months pregnant with his third son.

When we were cleaning out my grandparent’s house, and her two sons were there they were going to throw the lot of it out.  I wish I knew anything about these things of hers(I saved a lot of her things, notebooks, letters, jewelry), but anyone who would have known her, or about them is long gone.  So some days it seems strange to me to be ‘writing a new history’ for them by wearing them every day, when I don’t even know about them myself.

Sunday Afternoon’s Pocket Contents

Sunday, September 19th, 2010

Sorry, Daily Shoot, no talisman, amulet, “lucky charm” or comforting things in my pockets. I’m always afraid I’ll forget what I decided to carry there and unintentionally run my pants through the wash and ruin whatever is in my pockets. My car keys and phone are usually safe, though.

Some carry a talisman, amulet, “lucky charm”, or just a comforting thing in our pocket. What do you carry?
