Google Maps Story

Sunday, November 21st, 2010

So, I thought I uploaded/posted this, but when I was commenting on others blogs today and then looked at mine I couldn’t find it. Not really sure what happened, but here it is now. Sorry for such a delay :(

Where I’m from is very much like everywhere else in the sense it has a movie theater, places to eat, a mall and of course Wal-mart. Other than that not terribly exciting! So I decided to mainly focus on places that represent my childhood and briefly mention a few stories/incidences that occurred there. I used Camtasia because 5 minutes wasn’t enough since every place other than my house is 15-20 minutes away (in reality), I couldn’t justify using only 5 minutes.  Hope you enjoy it! My Google Maps: Welcome To Woodbridge

Wednesday, November 17th, 2010

This week our project was to chose a place to make a Google Map of and then incorporate a video screen cast of that map. Since I was very leery of featuring my house in the map I decided to make a Google Map of Woodbridge, the area where I live, and all of my favorite places around this area. I hope you all enjoy my video of WELCOME TO WOODBRIDGE. You can view the actual map for yourselves at the link provided below.

I hope you enjoy!

Where Exactly *is* 4 Beeson Ct.?

Tuesday, November 16th, 2010

Here’s a basic overview of where I’m from and what went down there.

I did not realize that the “demo” logo would be over the video the entire time– I am so sorry!

Don’t mind the end when I can’t figure out how to get out of capture mode ;) (and then when I sketchily–though accidentally– pull up my old Dean of Students’s resume…).

The Historic Triangle

Tuesday, November 16th, 2010

I used the Camtasia Studio application for this because when I started doing this, I realized I was going to need a lot more time than just 5 minutes. I really like this program, I personally like it a lot more than Windows Movie Maker, but don’t tell Microsoft that. I think we can all agree it’s pretty easy to use too. I went with the time restraint of ten minutes, which may seem like a lot, but because of the narration, to me it doesn’t seem too bad. But that’s just me, because I’m a nerd and love my hometown:]

The Not So Distant Past

Tuesday, November 16th, 2010

So this is my google maps of my neighborhood. I know that this is supposed to be from our childhood, but unfortunately a lot of the old neighborhoods in the Philippines aren’t available on google maps. So instead, this is a tour of my childhood after I moved to America :)
