Welcome to Digital Storytelling

Tuesday, August 24th, 2010

This is Jim Groom’s Computer Science 106 course, also known as Digital Storytelling, and even lesser known as ds106. This course is focused on the ways in which digital media inform, challenge and re-imagine the means through which we narrate a story, with a particular focus on one’s own story. This class is highly experimental and will require both collaboration and individual initiative when it comes to telling stories openly on and through the web. This course will approach digital storytelling with a particularly web-centric focus, framing the rise of social media in relationship to a larger, cultural revolution of the micro-narrative. As part of this exploration, we will both examine and participate in the mass explosion of both individual and collective narratives that have become the salt of the web. And all of which resulted from a global nervous system we are still trying to comprehend: the internet.

Welcome to ds106, also known as the internet.
